LANSING, Michigan (Great Lakes News) – Questions remain unanswered after one of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s top advisers took a spring break trip to Florida, leaving one of her children at home to recover from COVID-19.
Facebook posts show Chief Operations Officer Tricia Foster on a spring break trip to Florida. Her trip came just days after her boss, Gov. Whitmer, told Michiganders not to travel.
Foster has been tasked with rolling out the COVID-19 vaccine in Michigan.
Whitmer’s office lashed out after the publication of Friday’s Breitbart article and claimed Foster had been vaccinated. However, her office didn’t address the several young people in Foster’s party, who had not yet been eligible for the vaccine.
Bobby Leddy, a Whitmer spokesperson, did not refute the Breitbart article. Instead, he diverted from reporter questions, saying, “This is a partisan attack from a garbage white nationalist website. Trish Foster is fully recovered from COVID and fully vaccinated, Leddy said.
Tori Sachs with Michigan Rising Action said this is another example of Democrat governors, mayors, and politicians asking residents to do one thing while those in their administration or family ignore it.
“It’s rules for thee, not for we,” Sachs said.
It is not clear if there would be any accountability for Foster as Whitmer is now urging voluntary compliance with her recommendations, which Foster obviously didn’t heed.
