LANSING, Mich. (Great Lakes News) – The group Unlock Michigan is taking its case to court after the State Board of Canvassers dead-locked in a 2-2 vote.

The Democrat members refused to certify the petition signatures on Thursday despite them being approved by Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson.

If a court reverses the canvassers’ decision, the legislature will vote on repealing the 1945 law Gov. Gretchen Whitmer used to issue coronavirus lockdown executive orders.

Ron Armstrong with Unlock Michigan talked about what he called The Whitmer Administration’s hypocrisy, and why this petition is needed.

“From getting her boat in the water to traveling to the inauguration while kids who graduate once can’t hold graduations to no weddings or funerals, it’s time to fix the damn hypocrisy since we haven’t fixed the damn roads,” Armstrong said. “Whitmer goes to Florida and uses the excuse that she visited her chronically ill father but doesn’t afford the same things for her constituents.”
