LANSING, Mich. (Great Lakes News) – The Michigan GOP says it has new details regarding Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s trip to Florida in March, which she claimed took place to visit her “chronically ill” father and only last two days.
Republican leaders say the new details on Whitmer’s unvaccinated trip will be discussed at an 11 a.m. press conference on Wednesday. It will be livestreamed on the Michigan Republican Party Facebook page.
This press conference comes within 30 minutes of Gov. Whitmer’s press conference in which she plans to update the state on “continued efforts to slow the spread of the virus.”
Gov. Whitmer’s trip to Florida came at a time when she begged Michiganders not to travel for spring break. Ongoing details have been surfacing about how long she spent in Florida and how she traveled there. Last week, Whitmer appeared agitated at a reporter’s question regarding who paid for the billionaires’ plane she allegedly took to Florida.
Whitmer isn’t the only one who traveled during spring break amid pleas to stay home. Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Director Elizabeth Hertel spent time in Gulf Shores, Alabama, while COO Trish Foster traveled to Florida while her COVID-19 positive son recovered at home. Foster is in charge of rolling out the vaccine in Michigan.
