GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Great Lakes News) – Hundreds of refugees from Afghanistan will be settling in Michigan soon.
Immigrant Connection said it will provide reduced cost legal services for the roughly 1,300 Afghan refugees. The services include applying for work permits, green cards, and driver’s licenses.

Some families who were separated may also be reunited.
Ruth Stenfors, the director of Immigrant Connection, says she believes the biggest challenge will be unaffordable housing, but it shouldn’t be hard to find jobs for the refugees.
It may be several months until all of the refugees are living in the state.
Currently, most refugees are living on U.S. military bases right now.
