EAST LANSING, Mich. (Great Lakes News) – No ghosts or goblins will make their way through the halls of East Lansing elementary schools this year.

Officials told parents that Halloween celebrations are being dropped because of concerns over hurt feelings and uncomfortable families.

Assistant Superintendent Glenn Mitcham said some children cry if their costumes aren’t as exciting as ones worn by their classmates.

Valentine’s Day parties are getting the ax, too. Mitcham said some families and students aren’t comfortable with the theme of “love.”
