DETROIT (Great Lakes News) – As healthcare facilities grapple with a nationwide staffing shortage, Detroit hospitals are turning to hiring bonuses and other incentives to attract employees.

Beaumont Health officials say they’re down 12 percent in their nursing staff among their hospitals across Detroit which forced the closure of 180 beds.

The hospital system is offering $10,000 hiring bonuses for new nurse hires along with an additional $11,000 retention bonus for nurses who stay.
